Float Payments Pty Ltd (Float, we, us, our) is committed to protecting your privacy. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), Part IIIA of the Privacy Act and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025 (CR Code).
This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, how you can access and correct it, and how you can complain if you think we have mishandled it.
1. What personal information we collect
When you apply for a loan or use our website, we may collect:
- your name, date of birth, address and contact details;
- identity documents (such as a driver licence or passport);
- employment and income details;
- bank statements and transaction data, which you upload;
- details of your expenses and financial commitments;
- the loan amount, term and purpose you are applying for;
- credit information, including credit reporting information obtained from credit reporting bodies; and
- technical information collected automatically by our website (such as your IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed).
You do not have to give us your personal information, but if you do not we may not be able to assess your application or provide our services.
2. How we collect your personal information
We collect personal information directly from you when you complete a form on our website, apply for a loan, or contact us. We may also collect information from third parties such as credit reporting bodies, identity verification providers, your bank statements (which you upload), and other parties you authorise.
3. Why we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information
We collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information for purposes including to:
- assess loan applications, verify your identity and meet our responsible lending obligations;
- administer any credit contract, including managing repayments, arrears and hardship;
- maintain and update your Credit Passport;
- contact you about your loan or account;
- improve and develop our products and website;
- comply with our legal obligations (including under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth), anti-money-laundering laws and the Privacy Act); and
- manage complaints and disputes.
4. Who we disclose your personal information to
We may disclose your personal information to:
- credit reporting bodies (Equifax, Experian and illion);
- our service providers, including website hosting, identity verification, payment processing, and data storage providers;
- professional advisers, such as our lawyers, accountants and auditors;
- regulators, courts and government agencies, where required or authorised by law; and
- the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) in connection with any complaint.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Disclosure of personal information overseas
Some of our service providers store or process personal information outside Australia. Based on our current providers, your personal information may be disclosed to recipients located in the United States. Before disclosing personal information overseas we take steps reasonable in the circumstances, consistent with APP 8, to ensure overseas recipients handle it in accordance with the APPs.
6. How we hold and protect your personal information
We hold personal information in electronic form with our service providers. We take steps reasonable in the circumstances to protect it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Those steps include encrypting information in transit and at rest, limiting access to authorised personnel, and reviewing our security practices regularly. If we experience a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act.
7. Direct marketing
We may use your contact details to tell you about our products and services where permitted by law. You can opt out at any time by emailing us at info@floatpayments.com.au. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. We do not use or disclose your personal information for other organisations' direct marketing.
8. Cookies and website analytics
Our website does not use tracking or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider may collect standard server log information (such as your IP address) to deliver and secure the website. We will update this policy if we introduce cookies or analytics in future.
9. Accessing and correcting your personal information
You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. Contact us using the details in section 12. We will respond within a reasonable time. There is no charge to make a request, though we may charge a reasonable cost for giving access in some cases. If we refuse access or correction, we will tell you why in writing and how you can complain.
10. Credit reporting
Part IIIA of the Privacy Act and the CR Code apply to the credit information we handle. Our Credit Reporting Policy sets out the credit reporting bodies we deal with, the kinds of credit information we collect and hold, how we use and disclose it, how you can access and correct it, and your rights. It is available on our website.
11. How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, after which we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it. We keep credit and loan records for at least 7 years after the relevant contract ends, as required by law.

We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): phone 1300 363 992, or visit oaic.gov.au. Credit-related complaints can also be taken to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA): phone 1800 931 678, email info@afca.org.au, or visit afca.org.au.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website, and the effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
