Credit Reporting Policy

This policy explains how Float Payments Pty Ltd (Float, we, us, our) manages credit information and credit eligibility information under Part IIIA of the Privacy Act. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers personal information generally.
1. The credit reporting bodies we use
We may disclose credit information to, and obtain credit reporting information from, the following credit reporting bodies (CRBs):
- Equifax Australia (equifax.com.au)
- Experian Australia (experian.com.au)
- illion (illion.com.au)
Each CRB has its own policy about how it manages credit-related information, available on its website, including how to access and correct information and make a complaint.
2. The credit information we collect and hold
When you apply for or hold credit with us, we may collect and hold credit information such as: identification details; the type and amount of credit you have applied for or hold; repayment history information; payment defaults; court proceedings and insolvency information; as well as information about your creditworthiness derived from a CRB.
3. How we collect it
We collect credit information from you, from CRBs (for example, when we obtain a credit report to assess an application), and from other credit providers where permitted. At or before we collect personal information that we are likely to disclose to a CRB, we will notify you of the CRB's name and contact details and the other matters required by the Privacy Act and CR Code.
4. How we use and disclose it
We use and disclose credit information to: assess an application for credit; verify your identity; manage your loan and collect overdue payments; assist a CRB to keep its information accurate; participate in the credit reporting system; and meet our legal obligations. We do not use or disclose credit information for direct marketing except as permitted under Part IIIA.
5. Disclosure overseas
We are not likely to disclose credit information to overseas recipients.
6. Accessing and correcting your credit information
You can ask us for access to the credit information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact us using the details in section 9. We will respond within the timeframes required by the CR Code, and there is no charge to request a correction.
7. Your rights to restrict use of your information
- Pre-screening opt-out: you can ask a CRB not to use your credit reporting information for pre-screening of direct-marketing offers by credit providers.
- Ban on the basis of fraud: if you believe you have been, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud, you can ask a CRB not to use or disclose your credit reporting information (a ban period).
8. Making a complaint
If you think we have breached Part IIIA or the CR Code, contact us at privacy@floatpayments.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within the timeframes required by the CR Code (generally 30 days). If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992, or to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) at afca.org.au or 1800 931 678.
